How CoinVerum ranks Ethereum decentralized exchanges

The ranking compares Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Curve and SushiSwap using the same Ethereum mainnet dataset. TVL measures qualifying active pool liquidity, while volume and trades come from swaps observed by the CoinVerum indexer. This keeps the comparison focused on activity that can be verified on-chain.

No single metric identifies the “best” DEX. TVL describes available capital, trading volume measures recent demand, and the volume-to-TVL ratio indicates how intensively that capital is used. Active addresses provide another view of participation, although routers, aggregators and smart accounts mean that one address does not always equal one person.

DEX analytics questions

What is DEX TVL?

DEX TVL is the USD value of assets held in qualifying liquidity pools. It is a liquidity measure, not a measure of protocol revenue or market capitalization.

How is DEX volume calculated?

CoinVerum values indexed swaps in USD using its on-chain pricing references and aggregates them over rolling 24-hour and 7-day windows.
